2017 AWARD CATEGORIES

THERE ARE 12 AWARD CATEGORIES

The first eight categories are defined by the scale and cost of the project. Entrants can be individuals or teams working on the projects.

The remaining four Award categories that recognise achievement are:

• Innovation Award – recognising innovation in the industry demonstrated within a project

• Site Safe Safety Excellence Award – recognising excellence in ‘Safety in Design’ and safety initatives on a construction site.

• BCITO Young Achiever Award – recognising achievements of younger industry members who are under 30 years of age by the date entries close on the 9th of May 2017.

• Supreme Award – recognising extreme excellence and is chosen from entrants to the project scale and cost defined categories

The awards are open to anyone in the industry and entries are judged by a panel of respected experts from the Building Industry.

Projects must be practically completed within 18 months prior to 9 May of the Awards year.

RESENE PROJECTS UNDER $2.5 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost of less than $2.5 million.

STEEL CONSTRUCTION NZ PROJECTS $2.5–$5 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost from $2.5 million to less than $5 million.

HAYS PROJECTS $5–$10 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost from $5 million to less than $10 million.

COLORSTEEL® PROJECTS $10–$25 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost from $10 million to less than $25 million.

ALLIED CONCRETE PROJECTS $25–$50 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost from $25 million to less than $50 million.

HILTI PROJECTS $50–$75 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost from $50 million to less than $75 million.

METRO GLASS PROJECTS $75–$100 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost from $75 million to less than $100 million.

AECOM OVER $100 MILLION AWARD

The Award is open to individuals or teams for work related to Commercial, Industrial, Refurbishments, Interior fit-outs, Institutional Educational Programmes, Civil Projects, Demolition, Innovation, Sustainability or any other aspect of the building industry with total project cost of over $100 million.

JAMES HARDIE INNOVATION AWARD

Innovation is the key to the efficient and sustainable development of the construction industry.

The development of new concepts enable continuous enhancements within the industry.

Design of components, research and innovation in the construction industry process or work.

The James Hardie Innovation Award is presented for promising developments that are future-capable, cost-efficient and offer a high practical benefit that contribute towards energy and resource-efficiency and/or humanisation of the workplace.

Innovations submitted must be relevant to the construction equipment, building material to the construction industry and the building material industry.

BCITO YOUNG ACHIEVER AWARD

The BCITO Young Achiever Award is open to young industry professionals who are under 30 years of age by the date entries close on the 9th May 2017.

This Award provides recognition to a young building professional who has demonstrated a commitment to their own education, career development and provides a willingness to give something back to the industry and their community.

A future leader in their field of endeavour.

The judging criteria is based upon a nominee’s:
· Academic Achievement
· Achievements as a Building Professional
· Ability to lead change within their company
· Contribution to the building profession
· Contribution to the community

SITE SAFE SAFETY EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Site Safe Safety Excellence Award recognises excellence in ‘Safety in Design’ and safety initatives on a construction site.

GIB® SUPREME AWARD

The Supreme Award recognises extreme excellence.

The individual or team recipient of this Award is chosen from the Winners of the eight project scale and cost defined Award categories of that year’s Awards.
